What we do

CheckYourGST makes GST information in India easier to look up, read and act on. Enter a 15-character GSTIN and you get the registration record — legal name, trade name where declared, current status, taxpayer type, constitution of business, registration date, state and jurisdiction — presented clearly, with the date the details were retrieved shown alongside them.

Around that sits a set of tools people actually need while a transaction is in front of them: a GSTIN format validator, a GST calculator that works inclusive and exclusive, HSN and SAC code search, state code reference, bulk verification for a vendor list, and a library of plain-language guides.

Why we built it

Verifying a supplier should take a minute, not an afternoon. In practice people end up copying numbers between tabs, guessing whether a result is current, and relying on tools that present a confident answer without saying where it came from. A wrong answer delivered confidently is worse than no answer, because it stops the person checking.

So we built the opposite: show the record, show the source, show when it was last refreshed, and say plainly when something is unavailable.

How we handle data

• GST registration details come from a licensed commercial GST data provider, and from our cache of those lookups.
• Every result carries the time it was retrieved. Re-check forces a fresh lookup rather than reusing the cached copy.
• Fields that were not returned are shown as a dash. We never fill a gap with a plausible-looking guess.
• When a lookup fails, we say the lookup failed. We do not present an unavailable service as proof that a registration does not exist.
• We do not publish who searched for what. Searching does not require an account.

What we are not

We are an independent platform. We are not the official GST portal, we are not affiliated with the Government of India or any government body, and we cannot issue, amend or cancel a registration. For official services — registration, returns, payments, refunds — use the official GST portal.

Nothing on this site is tax or legal advice. Registration details can change at any time, and a lookup tells you about registration — not about whether returns have been filed or tax has been paid. For decisions with financial or legal consequence, confirm against official sources and take professional advice.
